About Me
I'm Mangesh (मंगेश बिडे) — a software engineer from India who works across the stack.
Day to day I build backend systems for a healthcare product — Django, PostgreSQL, and AWS — and the infrastructure they run on. On my own time I ship applied-AI projects end to end: RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, and compliance tooling, most of them self-taught and running at a live URL. I write about most of it so others don't have to figure it out the hard way.
How I got here
I got into programming because I wanted to understand how video games worked. Started self-taught, then did a CS degree to fill in the gaps.
Since then I've built web apps, ML systems, and a lot of stuff in between. The most useful thing I've picked up is that writing code other people can actually maintain matters more than being clever.
What I spend my time on
- Backend systems and APIs — Django and FastAPI over PostgreSQL, with auth and access control
- Applied AI — RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, and PHI/compliance tooling
- Infrastructure — Terraform, Docker, and k3s, so environments rebuild from code instead of memory
- Writing about things I figure out (so I don't forget, mostly)
- Small tools that automate stuff I got tired of doing manually
